Kuzun–Laza: four waterfalls, a canyon and mountain rivers in 9 kilometres

Some routes are valuable because they are long, others because of how much they pack in. Kuzun–Laza belongs to the second group: nearly four waterfalls, a canyon, a mountain river and green forest across just 9 kilometres.
How the day goes
- 06:30 — meeting point, 07:00 — departure from Baku
- 10:30–17:30 — the walk
- Back in Baku around 22:00
The walk itself lasts 7 hours, yet the distance is 9 km. What does that ratio mean? Lots of stops — you spend time at every waterfall, take photos, sit by the water. In other words the route is as much a stroll as a trek.
Laza
Laza is one of the most scenic villages in Qusar and is known for its waterfalls. In winter they freeze — people come here for winter routes too, but the gear requirements then are completely different.
Difficulty: moderate
What "moderate" means here:
- There are ups and downs along the way
- There are water crossings — your feet get wet
- No technical skills are required
So it is within reach for anyone who walks regularly, but it is not ideal as a first trek.
An honest note about rain
The tour description says it plainly: we are going into nature, and this is for people who do not mind rain, wind and mud. That is not a marketing line — the weather in this region really does change fast.
The practical conclusion: always keep a light rain jacket in your pack. You may never use it, but on the day you need it, the walk ends without one.
Nearby routes
- Mikhtoken plateau and Suvar — from the same village of Laza, up to the alpine meadow
- Bazarduzu peak — same district, an entirely different level
