Gadabay: Lake, Fortress, and Siemens Bridge in Three Days
Gadabay is one of the districts far from Baku — that is exactly why a three-day format is chosen. Departing at 23:30 at night, arriving in Gadabay at 06:00 in the morning.
→ Gadabay adventure (With homestay)
What's on the route
Bashkend Lake — a mountain lake, the scenic viewpoint of the route.
Koroglu Fortress and Namard Fortress — Namard Fortress is reached via a hike.
Mahsara monument — historical traces of the region.
Siemens Bridge — a structure remaining from the 19th century when the German Siemens brothers operated a copper mine in Gadabay. The industrial history of Gadabay is unknown to many: one of the country's first copper processing plants operated here, and infrastructure remnants from that period still exist in the surroundings.
Hachagaya Mountain — the most recognized rock formation on the route.
About the overnight bus ride
The tricky part of this format is departing at 00:00 and starting the hike in the morning. A few practical tips:
- Neck pillow. Cheap, but saves your morning.
- Eye mask and earplugs. Lights and conversations don't stop on the bus.
- Light dinner. Sleeping while sitting up is much worse after a heavy meal.
Who it is not suitable for
A 6-hour overnight bus ride is tough for those with back and neck issues. In that case, check out one-day routes in nearby regions: One-day escape routes from Baku.
Other three-day formats
- Ancient land Nakhchivan tour — softer, more leisure-oriented
- Bazarduzu peak — more difficult, expedition
