Hamosham mountain camp: two days at 1300 metres
Hamosham (Digoli) is Astara's camping spot at an altitude of 1300 metres. A two-day format, with a maximum group of 25 people.
→ Hamosham Mountain Camp
How the programme is built
Day 1: meeting at 06:15 → arrival at the village of Hamosham at 12:00 → transfer to the campsite by mountain vehicle → setting up camp.
Day 2: breaking camp and the return journey.
So the real camping time runs from midday on the first day to the morning of the second — about 18 hours. That is the ideal length for a first camp: no time to get bored, and none to get exhausted.
What 1300 metres means
When it is 25 °C in Baku, the night here can be 10–12 °C. The practical consequences:
- A warm layer is essential. A fleece jacket or a polar.
- A hat and socks for sleeping. It sounds minor; it changes the night.
- There is dew in the morning. Anything left outside the tent will be wet by morning — put your shoes in the porch of the tent.
The night sky in the Talysh mountains
Far from city light, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. For that:
- Turn the lamps off and wait 15–20 minutes — your eyes need to adapt to the dark
- Do not look at your phone; screen light resets the adaptation
- Check the lunar calendar: a full moon makes half the stars invisible
About group life
In a camp of 25 people there is no "corner of your own", and that is part of the format. If you are looking for quiet, consider small-group routes. If you are looking to meet people, camping is the best format for it: two hours around a fire are usually worth conversations that two months in the city would not produce.
